Governor’s early weeks indicate he will keep a firm grasp on communication

A Seattle Times news article published Feb. 7, 2025, offers a glimpse of the type of governor Bob Ferguson could turn out to be -- a bit tight-lipped and with a firm grip on all state agency communications.
The article, headlined “In a departure for WA governors, Ferguson avoids news conferences,” notes that Washington’s newest governor has not met with media in regularly scheduled news conferences during the legislative session, which was a standard practice of his predecessors.
The former attorney general who has always said he supports transparency in government has hung up a bit of a curtain, at least for now. We hope that’s temporary while he gets his bearings.
